Coaches and Manager Positions for Squads and Squad Committee

Canoeing Ireland Canoe Polo Committee would like to request people to send in their applications for the roles of
coach or manager of the following squads:

  •  Senior Men
  •  Senior Women
  • U21 Men        
  • U21 Women
  •  Junior Squads

We also request applications for people to be part of the three person Squad Committee.  

All application to be received by chair@canoepolo.ie by the 19th November 2017.

  •  What are the aspirations for the squad in 2018?

Role of Squad Committee:        

  • To ensure that the subcommittee, coaches and managers apply for Garda vetting;
  •  To review and update all contracts for athletes, coaches and managers and issue to NCPC for final approval.
  • To gather the required accreditation information for the major competitions;
  • To confirm teams are entered.
  • To ensure that contracts are signed by all coaches and managers;
  • To present selection criteria for the squad for World and European competitions
    by the end of February to NCPC for
     ratification.
  •  To present names of team members for World and European competitions
    for ratification by Canoe Ireland NCPC at agreed times.
  • To ensure that the squad manager issues contracts to the athletes to sign and
    keep the signed copies;
  • To agree one set of squad gear (looking for a discount from a sole supplier);
  • To abide by the Canoe Ireland Child Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children
    and as such agree to adhere to the principles and responsibilities embodied
    in the code.
  • Contact to each squad will be through the appointed manager (or coach in
    the absence of appointed manager).
  • To report to the squad liaison officer before each NCPC meeting when requested by squad liaison officer

Role of  the Squad Coach:

  • Must treat everyone equally and sensitively
    regardless of his/her gender, ethnic origin, cultural background, sexual
    orientation, religion, or political affiliation.
  • To look after the physical, technical,
    tactical and mental preparation of the relevant Irish Canoe Polo Squad/s for
    International and Domestic competitions.
  • To utilize the support of other qualified
    personnel in the preparation of the squad where required upon ratification by the CI
    NCPC Chairperson.
  • To organise training sessions in conjunction
    with the Manager of the squad.
  • To finalize selection criteria for World and
    European competitions and submit to CI NCPC for ratification.
  • In conjunction with the manager to deal with
    any disciplinary matters arising within the squad.
  • To treat all members of the squad/s and CI
    NCPC with dignity and respect.
  • To present any grievances to the committee
    should they arise
  • To abide by the Canoeing Ireland Child Code of
    Conduct for the Protection of Children and as such agree to
    adhere to the principles and responsibilities embodied in the code.

Role of  the Squad Manager:

  • Must treat everyone
    equally and sensitively regardless of his/her gender, ethnic origin, cultural
    background, sexual orientation, religion, or political affiliation.
  • To look after the
    administration and management of the Irish Senior Men’s Canoe Polo Squad/s for
    International and Domestic competitions.
  • To manage the financial
    affairs and to keep detailed records of all financial transactions and lodge
    all monies through the CI NCPC accounts.
  • In conjunction with the
    Coach to deal with any disciplinary issues arising within the squad.
  • To report to the CI
    NCPC Chairperson any disciplinary issues arising within the squad.
  • To submit a short
    written report to the CI NCPC at the end of March, June, September and
    December.
  • To present selection criteria for the squad for World and European competitions by the end of February to the CI NCPC for ratification.
  • To present names of
    team members for World and European competitions for ratification by the
    CI NCPC at agreed times.
  • To keep detailed
    records of all international competitions, results and members of teams.
  • To present squad goals and aspirations for the year (in conjunction with the Coach) by the end of
    February to the CI NCPC Chairperson.
  • To provide the CI NCPC
    PRO with information for Press Releases.
  • To ensure that all
    (athletes and management) members of the Squad sign the National Squads
    Athlete Agreement by the end of February.
  • To liaise with the
    other Managers of the CI NCPC National Squads.
  • To present any
    grievances to the committee should they arise
  • To abide by the Canoeing
    Ireland Child Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children
    and as such agree to adhere to the principles and responsibilities
    embodied in the code.
