Last days report
Kilcocks Devils are Munster’s 15th Canoepolo League Winners.
The Devils drew on points with Swink who were sitting comfortably on top of the table. Both teams decided to play a decider in order to be crowned champions. Swinks Captain opened the tally in a 13 goal thriller after 2 minutes. Mongey scored his first of a hat-trick of spectacular goals after 3 and 8 minutes. It was a tight and a very exciting match and no side could afford a mistake.

Devils scored 4 goals in a row without a reply from Swink. Two goals from Sharp Shooter No. 6 hendy and 1 from No.1 Paddy Mooney. Another goal was scored from the penalty spot which may have proved to be the difference between the two teams. NO. 5 for the Devils calmily took it. Mongey got Swink back on track by scoring his second 8 minutes into the half, 3-4 at half time.

Devils came back the stronger in the second half, they scored first, with a superb goal from the sid of the pitch after just 18 seconds. Paddy showed lighning pace to win the ball from the throw in with an off-laod to no.5 who scored his last goal 3 minutes inot the 2nd half. This was followed by another goal by Devils No. 2. Swinks no. 6 Michael Mahon scored a power goal shortly after. Reillys sights were not calibrated because he shot several wide of the target, of course he was under immense pressure. Paddy Mooney scored Devils dinal score 4 minutes into the 2nd half. It was nail biting until the end. A comeback by Swink seemed likely after Damian Downes scored a goal in the 7th minute. Devils defended well and earned their victory and they have written their teams name into Munster League history and denying Swink 2 in a row. 6-7 Final Score to Devils.

Galway win Div 2 by a clear margin. There was also a playoff for 2nd place between Rubber Duckies and Chaos in order to decide the honours. This also proved to be an equally matched game because Rubber Duckies won on Golden Goalscored by No.1 Donie McLoughlin, thier captain. Keep an eye on Kilkenny's younger and skillful paddlers. Certainly a team of the future. Managed under the watchful eye of Roger McClure. Sean Mullins (organiser) was very pleased to see teams improving more and more as the league went on.

Congatulations to teams in both divisions for taking part and conducting themselves professionally. Thanks to all who helped with duties and refereeing.

Sean Mullins
